Four County EMC Kicks Off Bright Ideas Campaign For Local Teachers!
April 5th, 2012North Carolinas electric cooperatives, including Four County EMC, have allocated more than $600,000 to award teachers during the 2012-2013 school year. Grants up to $2,000 are available and teachers may apply beginning April 1.
“Bright Ideas puts new resources in the hands of teachers with creative strategies to engage students,” said Director of Corporate Communications, Gay Johnson. “We’re proud to continue the co-op’s long tradition of supporting educators and investing in the future of our state.”
Teachers can learn more about the program and apply online at www.ncbrightideas.com. Grants will be awarded to teachers in all disciplines and grade levels for creative hands-on projects that would otherwise cost teachers money from their own pockets, or go unfunded.
Four County is accepting applications April 1 through September 21. Educators who submit their application by the early-bird deadline of August 17 will be entered to win a $500 Visa gift card.
Last year, Four County funded 26 grants totaling $19,860.
To apply, educators must submit an application that includes a description of the project’s goals, implementation, creative elements and budget. Applications will be judged in a competitive evaluation process, and judges will be on the lookout for projects that feature innovation and creativity.
Since 1994, Bright Ideas has awarded more than $7.9 million to fund 7,700 projects benefiting 1.4 million students.
